BRASS bands, BMX bike displays and morris dancing are just some of the events planned for Flint Festival.

The annual celebration, which is now in its seventh year, gets underway on Friday and runs until Saturday, July 16.

This year’s highlights include the Flint Male Voice Choir performing at Flint Pavilion on Saturday, July 2, and an open-air adaptation of Roald Dahl's Fantastic Mr Fox by the Illyria theatre group at Flint Castle on Friday, July 8.

Young talent will be under the spotlight on Wednesday, July 13, when Flint’s very own version of Britain’s Got Talent takes place at Gwynedd School Hall.

The same venue will bring the curtain down on the 2011 festival when it hosts Last Night of the Proms on Saturday, July 16.

Cllr David Cox, mayor of Flint, said: “There is sure to be something that appeals within the diverse and varied programme.”

Organisers have confirmed a 16-day programme of activities which caters for the whole family.

Events will take place across the town and most are free of charge.
