A MAN from Wrexham who went missing from his home for more than two days has been found.

Police and volunteers mounted a widespread search for Anthony Smith, 58, who not been seen since he left his home in Borras Road on Tuesday morning.

Last night his wife, Kath, told the Leader her husband had returned home.

About 30 volunteers from the North East Wales Search and Rescue team were drafted in to the hunt for self-employed electrician Mr Smith.

The North Wales Police helicopter also took part in the mission on Wednesday night.

Team leader Iain Ashcroft said: “Mr Smith was last seen leaving his home at 11am on Tuesday.

“We were called in on Wednesday afternoon and began our search at around 6.30pm.

“We checked a number of areas where he is known to enjoy going for short walks of about 40 minutes.

“On Wednesday night we looked on land around the Pant yr Ochain pub and the nearby Flash. We also searched at Acton Park, around the visitor centre at Kingsmill and woods behind the former Bryn Estyn school.

“Later we also broadened the search to the Horseshoe Pass and eventually called things off at midnight.”

Yesterday, before his father returned home, Mr Smith’s son, Andrew, had made a plea for information on his missing dad.

He said: “He left the house on Tuesday and we haven't a clue where he has gone.

“We are all really worried about him as he has never done anything like this before.

“We are hoping someone who sees his picture in the paper may have seen him and will let the police know.”
