SOME of North Wales’ finest voices are to resound in the glorious setting of Chirk Castle.

Organisers of the Wrexham Year of Culture programme are staging the Picnic in the Park on Sunday evening.

The midsummer concert will feature the world renowned Fron Male Voice Choir together with David and Stewart Kempster.

It has been 10 years since baritone David last performed professionally alongside his brother, bass tenor Stewart.

But they have teamed up for this special performance in the town where they grew up.

People going along to the concert are asked to bring their own chairs, picnics and refreshments.

The Mayor of Wrexham, Cllr Ian Roberts, who represents Chirk North, said: “The idea behind Picnic in the Park is to celebrate Chirk and the surrounding area and I am delighted this event is part of the Wrexham Year of Culture 2011.

“I am honoured to welcome the Froncysyllte Male Voice Choir here to Chirk Castle, despite their incredibly busy schedule and proud to note that many of the choir members originate from Chirk.

“And, of course, I was absolutely thrilled to sign up David and Stewart Kempster.

“It is fabulous they are giving something back to the community here in Chirk by agreeing to appear together at Picnic in the Park.”
