PERVERT indecently assaulted a little girl – and filmed himself doing it on his mobile phone.

Phillip Rowlands, 35, was caught out after he was arrested for flashing to school girls in Wrexham.

He later claimed he was exposing himself – to educate them.

Police seized his computer and mobile phone.

When they were analysed, shocked officers found on the phone some homemade video films.

Some of them showed him sexually assaulting a little girl as she slept.

Police had traced the victim who did not wake up and who was entirely unaware that it had happened.

But the mother of the child had been devastated, Mold Crown Court was told.
They also found hundreds of indecent images of children on his computer.

Rowlands of Glan Gors in Wrexham, was jailed for four years and three months after he admitted a series of 21 offences.

He admitted sexually assaulting a child, making an indecent image by filming himself doing it, and making and possessing indecent images by downloading them off the Internet, including extreme images involving sex with animals.

Rowlands admitted three sample charges of exposing his genitals with six similar offences taken into consideration.

Judge Peter Heywood said that over a period of a few months he had been exposing himself to girls making their way to school.
“You regarded it as educative, it was not,” the judge said. “It was distressing, unacceptable and disgusting.”

As a result of his phone and computer being analysed he had admitted making and possessing more than 1,500 indecent images.

Rowlands must now register with the police as a sex offender for life. An indefinite Sexual Offences Prevention Order (SOPO) was also made.

Sandra Subacchi, prosecuting, said Rowlands was said to have a smug look on his face, and was grinning, when he flashed to schoolgirls in the town.

Catherine Jagger, defending, said her client, who had no previous convictions, appreciated the abhorrent nature of his offences.

“No one can hold any more contempt for him than he does for himself,” she said.
He had two children of his own but was now unlikely to see them in the future.
