A TEAM from the region has lined up a mouth-watering clash against the oldest football club in the world.

North Wales Dragons will play Sheffield FC in the Anglo Celtic Shield Tournament, followed by a fundraising dinner featuring former Liverpool manager Roy Evans.

The tournament, which also features Buckley Town FC and Ayrshire Outsiders, will raise money for four charities.

Chris Roberts, manager and founder of North Wales Dragons, also runs Colwyn Bay-based framing firm Inner Frame.

He said: “Inner Frame as a company has always supported charitable causes where we can.

“In two years, through our work with the North Wales Dragons, we’ve raised £5,000 for charity.

“It is our ambition and passion to match that through the tournament and the tournament dinner.”

The Dragons play their games at Buckley’s Globe Way Stadium and the 17-squad members are drawn from across North Wales.

The tournament will include activities for the whole family while items up for auction include a 2010 England shirt signed by David Beckham, a Wales football shirt signed by the full squad and a T-shirt signed by Formula 1 Driver Mark Webber.

Also supporting Innerframe in the organisation and promotion of the event is Ysbryd y Ddraig, a local event management company.

Charities benefiting are Neve’s Charities, CLIC Sargent Scotland, Buckley Town FC in the community and Boots for Africa.

There are still some tickets available for the six-game group tournament, to be played at Globe Way Stadium on May 21.

Organisers are also still looking for draw or auction prizes.
