STREETS in Flintshire and Wrexham came to life on Friday for the nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Hundreds of revellers watched the action on outdoor televisions before lining the streets with tables and chairs for the all-day festivities.

Flintshire played host to a number events and streets were closed, including Thomas Street, The Nurseries, Cae Hir, and Third Ave in Flint as well as Ffridd Osber in Coed Talon and Ewart Street, Saltney Ferry.

People descended on to Mold town centre to watch live coverage of Prince William and the new Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey.

The event was organised by business group Mold 2000 and also included live bands, a fashion show, children’s entertainments and a land train.

Residents of Cwrt Leighton, Connah’s Quay, enjoyed a picnic and bouncy castle.

Partygoer Kate Grimster said: “Almost everyone in the street was out and they brought they friends too.

“The children were given footballs and hula-hoops to play with and each had a goody bag. We also had a tombola and a ‘guess the name of the teddy bear competition’. They absolutely loved it.”

Wrexham county hosted 10 parties.

Edward Street in Wrexham became a hive of activity as it kept to its 65-year tradition of community celebrations.

Residents in Ponciau, Caia Park, Garden Village, Johnstown, Garden Village, Cefn Mawr and Pontfadog also organised special celebrations to mark the big day.
