BIG name comedians Ed Byrne and Craig Campbell are among the acts confirmed for this year’s Llangollen Comedy Festival.

The two international stars will take to the stage along with a host of high profile comedians set to perform at venues across the town in June.

Tickets for the festival have gone on sale, online, and are expected to sell quickly following the success of last year’s event.

The festival is organised by funny man Silky, who also puts on the popular Kill for a Seat comedy nights in Llangollen and Mold, as well as at other venues across Britain.

He said: “Llangollen’s second comedy festival is shaping up to be just as successful as the first.

“We are delighted Ed Byrne is joining us once again.

“He's well-known for his television appearances on Live at the Apollo, Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow and Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

“Craig Campbell is also a regular on television these days.

“He’s a rising star at the moment, with some describing him as Canada’s Billy Connolly.”

The Comedy Festival will be based at Llangollen Pavilion with the RAFA club hosting at least one performance per night in a rolling programme of fun.

Among the names scheduled to appear at the festival are Alun Cochrane, Isy Suttie, Ray Peacock and Ed Gamble in Peacock and Gamble's Emergency Broadcast, Gary Delaney and, for family entertainment, Little Howard's Big Question.

All the acts are well known names from television and radio and established performers on the comedy circuit.

The complete programme is still to be finalised and more names will be announced shortly.

The venue director of Llangollen Pavilion, Vicki Shenton-Morris, said: “Our regular Kill for a Seat comedy nights are proving hugely popular so it is a marvellous achievement to bring a comedy festival on this scale, attracting this level of talent, to Llangollen.

“With the festival committed to the town, we can look forward to some seriously funny performers offering quality entertainment for both the local community and visitors to Llangollen.”

Llangollen Comedy Festival 2011 takes place from June 9 to 12. Tickets are available from www.llancomedy.com.
