BRAVE little Ffion Davies is preparing for a very special charity night.

The five-year-old from Greenfield suffers from cystic fibrosis and her proud mum Annika Thorley, 32, is helping to organise a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Doctors found out Ffion had the condition when she was four weeks old.

Annika said: “It was quite a shock at first. Ffion is lovely and a credit to me. She has a lot of friends – she gets on with everybody.

“She is a lovely little girl and a treasure. She is looking forward to it and wants a new dress so I’m going to have to splash out on one.”

The event will be held at the Stamford Gate Hotel in Holywell at 7.30pm on Friday, May 13, and will include a disco, buffet and a raffle.

Annika said: “Because I have Ffion I help the charity out a lot. The charity helps us with information and support, they are very good. If she is ever poorly they take her to hospital and see her straight away.”

Ffion will be going in for an operation at Liverpool’s Alder Hey hospital on May 3.

Annika, who is a single parent and also has a three-year-old son, Rhys, has already taken on a 140ft free air abseil at Old Trafford stadium in Manchester raising more than £400, but had to take a year off from fundraising to look after Ffion.

She said: “Last year she spent 76 days on intravenous antibiotics. It can be difficult, but she just gets on with it, so I have to get on with it, so I don’t see it as a big thing. She never complains.

“We are hoping it is going to be a great night. We are hoping to raise money for this worthy cause.”
