A WORRIED community leader is offering a £500 reward to help collar the yobs responsible for a spate of car fires in Rhos and Ponciau.

Five more cars were torched in Rhos on Monday night.

The attacks come on top of more than a dozen similar cases over recent months.

And now Jean Jones, a long-standing member of Rhos Community Council, believes enough is enough.

She said: “This was a nice place to live but because of all this it has become a community of fear.

“I just can’t get my head around what is happening.

“I can’t sleep at night and every rustle of the bushes makes me think that someone is out there.

“I have decided to offer £500 of my own money, which I will pay out for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.

“The whole village is scared to death – it’s just like a reign of terror.”

She added: “I have been on the community council for many years and have never seen anything like this before.

“Everyone is appalled but I know the police are doing their best.

“It’s very difficult to get evidence.

“I am hoping that if it is a gang responsible for this they might just fall out and one of them might decide to split on the others for the £500, which is quite a lot of money.”

A spokeswoman for North Wales Police said: “We are investigating these incidents and have stepped up patrols in the area.”
