STUDENTS and fellow staff members at Yale College have joined Sheila Meadows in celebrating her being awarded the OBE for her services to education in Wales.

Mrs Meadows, who was recently at Buckingham Palace to receive her honour, is the former head of Caia Park Nursery School and for many years a stalwart of early years education.

In recent years she has worked as a tutor on the CACHE childcare and education courses at Yale College as well as the foundation degree, early childhood, care and education.

Yale principal Paul Croke said: “We are very privileged to have Sheila on our team.”
Mrs Meadows said: “Generating a proactive lifelong learning ethos in youngsters is my aim.

“Working amongst early years tutors and students at Yale College is a wonderful opportunity to continue to spread the word into the next generation of practitioners.”

While still at Caia Park Nursery School, Mrs Meadows took part in global research for Wales’ early years curriculum which included exploring ideas from Te Whariki in New Zealand.
