A MAN has been branded a violent bully and jailed for four years for a "horrific" rape attack.

Roger Anthony Davies, 43, aditted rape and two physical assaults on the same woman last September.

Judge Daffyd Hughes said the circumstances of the rape were horrific and he branded Davies a violent and controlling bully.

The father-of-three- was ordered to register as a sex offender for life.

Davies, who lived in Saltney at the time, attacked the woman last summer after manhandling her into a utility room. He ripped her top and punched her with full force to the back of the neck.

Andrew Green, prosecuting at Mold Crown Court, said Davies also spat in her face.
The victim was crying hysterically and telling him to stop but he then raped her.

“He decided he was going to have sex with her,” said Mr Green.

When it was over she left. He apologised and asked her to return but when she refused he punched her in the face.

The police were called but Davies, who had previous convictions but not of a sexual nature, was not arrested for some time.

He was traced to Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire where arrangements were made for him to attend a local police station but he did not turn up and was not arrested until February in Yeovil, Somerset.

Kim Halsall, defending, said Davies, now of Mayfield Road, Yeovil, but knew what he had done was unforgivable.

He had pleaded guilty which had saved the victim having to relive her ordeal by giving evidence.

It was accepted the impact of what he had done would remain with the complainant for some time and Davies had not tried to minimise that impact.

Davies, she said, was capable of turning over a new leaf.
