A MASSIVE cannabis factory has been uncovered in Flint.

More than 200 cannabis plants and specialist growing equipment were seized by police during a raid on a trailer parked on Pentre Hill, Flint Mountain.

Experts estimate the haul - which had grown to a height of one foot – has a street value of between £176,000 and £220,000.

No arrests have been made, but police are hunting a known suspect.

Sergeant John Williams is urging the public to remain vigilant of drug crimes.

He told the Leader: “There are tell-tale signs we can associate with the growing of cannabis such as heavy duty cables, blacked-out windows and, of course, the smell.

“We would urge anyone who is suspicious of cannabis cultivation to contact us immediately.”

Police executed a warrant at the premises on Friday afternoon under the Misuse of Drugs Act 1979 following a tip-off from a member of the public.

Officers were assisted by North Wales Fire and Rescue to gain entry into the large green trailer which was rigged with ventilation pipes and an improvised electrical system to feed the powerful lights.

Crime scene investigators examined the trailer for forensic evidence and later destroyed the plants.

Sgt Williams added: “We acted on the information which we were given and it has been a good result.

“There have been a number of finds like this in recent months. We will always act positively on any information given to us by the public.”

Flint Trelawny councillor Trefor Howarth was passing by when he saw the commotion.

He said: “I was walking to post a letter when I saw two police cars and a fire engine parked on Pentre Hill.

“This kind of thing never happens here.”
