THERE was both pleasure and pain as good sports did their bit for Comic Relief.

One brave worker, Dan West, had his chest and stomach waxed as part of Red Nose Day efforts in the region.

Dan, 25, a client development executive at Best Companies in Llay, endured having his chest waxed by beauticians from Pure Perfection in Rossett.

But it was all worth it – as well as raising valuable cash, Dan was treated to a post-wax massage to take the edge off the pain.

“I have never done it before and hell will freeze over before I do it again,” said Dan.

“All the girls in the office nominated me for it, they know I’m up for a laugh.

“I had a crowd two to three deep watching me.

“I don’t mind because it’s all in the name of charity.”

Best Companies, which compiles a list of the best UK companies, was also raising money through competitions, a charity auction and a Wii dance-off.

On Friday the company had raised more than £300 and was expecting cash to continue rolling in.

Meanwhile, a group of dare-devil employees from Kellogg’s braved the skies for a parachute jump in Whitchurch.

Electrician Neil Evans and apprentices Chris Jones, Richard Humphreys, George Hitchin, Nick Jones and Mike Patterson all took the 12,000ft leap.

Mike Ford from Kellogg’s said: “I’m extremely proud of all the lads for doing such a daring act for a good cause.

“Great support from all of the Kellogg’s workforce.”

Workers at Gymophobics fitness centre in Church Street, Wrexham, dressed up as naughty schoolgirls and sold cakes.

Jen Jones won the Red Nose cake competition and her entry was auctioned off for the cause.

Deborah Cunliffe said: “We also wrote a song about keeping yourself trim and having a sexy bum.

“Everybody has had a great day with lots of laughs.”

Workers from Barclays in Wrexham took on a 95-mile ride – the equivalent of riding to Holyhead – on a static spinning bike.

Staff took part in 15-minute shifts throughout the day to swell Comic Relief coffers.
