A MAN has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following an alleged hit and run in Buckley.

Damien Michael Smith, 35, appeared from custody in court yesterday, charged with wounding his partner’s brother, Lee Damien Stanley, 39, with intent, and failing to stop, following an incident involving his Ford Mondeo in Jubilee Road, Buckley, on Wednesday.

It follows the allegation that Mr Stanley was struck by a car, ending up on the windscreen and was then thrown onto the rear windscreen of a parked Corsa car before falling onto the road.

Smith, of Durham Road, Blacon, was granted bail and will appear at a preliminary hearing at Mold Crown Court in a week’s time.

Mr Stanley remains in hospital with a large laceration to his head which needed 18 stitches, eight rib fractures, a bruised lung and a broken vertebrae in his neck. He is said to be in a stable condition.
