A SNOOKER ace has rounded off a successful season with a top accolade.

Gareth Allen has just picked up the coveted Senior Sportsman of the Year title in the Flintshire Sports Personality of the Year Awards.

It was the icing on the cake for the 22-year-old who last year achieved the Elite Cymru Award from the Sports Council for Wales, which provides support for up and coming sports stars.

His proud nana Tina Smith nominated him for the sports personality award.

She said: “He didn’t expect to win so he was really delighted, we all were. He has had a really great year.”
