HARD-working dancer Nicolette Whitley is hoping Flintshire will back her as she faces the biggest challenge of her life in the final of a live TV dance show.

The dedicated dance teacher and her dance partner Renako McDonald, who perform as Alleviate, pictured right, are putting the finishing touches to their routine for the final of Sky 1’s Got to Dance.

The 22-year-old from Penyffordd said winning the competition’s public vote and the £250,000 cash prize would be the “cherry on top of an amazing experience.”

Former Castell Alun pupil Nicolette, along with fellow Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts graduate Renako, 22, from London, have been gathering nation-wide support with their stunning performances.

Now they are looking forward to Sunday’s final where family and friends will be cheering them on at the Kensington Olympia as part of the largest ever live TV audience of 6,000 people.

Nicolette said: “I’m really excited about the final but the pressure is on. Because the last performance went down so well we want to top it. Three weeks is not a long time to perfect a piece but things are going well and we are just getting the finishing touches.”

Supporters in Penyffordd have made t-shirts and villagers and community leaders have thrown their support behind the couple.

Nicolette’s parents Jackie and Garth have said they are proud of their daughter and are keeping their finger’s crossed.

Nicolette said: “We are really glad of all the support. The local community has been fantastic. I just hope, if it is not too much ask, for everyone to get behind us.”

The live final of Got to Dance airs at 6pm on Sunday on Sky 1 HD and is repeated an hour later on Sky 3D.
