IT is news that will excite young children across the region.

Following her triumphant visit last February, daytime TV favourite Peppa Pig is returning to Wrexham.

Thousands of adoring fans and their parents packed Eagles Meadow shopping centre when Peppa and her little brother, George, trotted into town.

Now the cartoon duo will be back at Eagles Meadow between 11am and 4pm on Tuesday, February 22.

Centre manager Kevin Critchley is anticipating another big turnout after the “amazing response” last year.

He said: “We knew Peppa the Pig and George were going to be popular but we had not expected quite as many youngsters last time.

“It was a bit like Pig Idol.”

Last year Peppa and George spent more than four hours meeting their fans.

The visitors were meant to go to shops on the upper tier of the complex but the numbers could not be accommodated and the pigs had to greet fans on the ground floor only.

They set up in the former Calendar Club shop next to Greggs and children and parents queued for up to 90 minutes to get their photograph taken with the pigs.

Aimed at children aged two and above, the TV show won a children’s Bafta in 2005 for best pre-school animation. More than two million Peppa Pig books and DVDs have been sold in the UK.
