POLICE have launched a fresh appeal for information on the first anniversary of the disappearance of a Buckley grandmother.

Pauline Annette Edwards, 69, was reported missing by husband John on Friday, February 5, when she did not come home after walking in the coastal village of Trefor, Caernarfon, where they had a holiday home.

Mrs Edwards was last seen at about 4pm in the Lime Street area.

There were a number of possible later sightings of Mrs Edwards on the path leading from Trefor towards the pier.

A major search operation was mounted by police, the coastguard, mountain rescue teams and the Search and Rescue Dog Association, but no trace of Mrs Edwards has ever been found.

A recent multi-agency review of the case was also undertaken.

District inspector Mark Armstrong said: “Following her disappearance large air, sea and land searches were undertaken on a scale not normally seen in North Wales but unfortunately these have failed to locate Mrs Edwards.

“In the coming weeks we are planning to revisit the area and carry out further searches of shorelines and areas in and around the village of Trefor and hope that this will also jog the memories of members of the public.

“Specially trained police officers remain in regular contact with Mrs Edwards’ family throughout this traumatic time and they are aware and fully supportive of the continued efforts to locate her.”

Mrs Edwards was last seen wearing a black, long Boucle pattern cardigan, three-quarter length black trousers and black boots.

She is 5ft 2in tall, of slim build and has collar length straight brown hair.

Insp Armstrong added: “As we approach the first anniversary of Mrs Edwards’ disappearance, I would ask all members of the public in the Trefor and Lleyn peninsular areas to think back to 12 months ago on the afternoon of Friday, February 5.

“We are asking for information from anyone in the Trefor area who saw a woman on her own walking near the sea on the headland above Trefor or near the pier.

“If you saw something that may help us confirm Mrs Edwards’ movements on that day then we want to hear from you.”

Anyone with information on her whereabouts can call North Wales Police 101, 0845 6071001, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
