MACHETE-wielding robbers stormed a restaurant in Deeside and stole cash.

Three men wearing balaclavas entered Pizza Hut on Chester Road West, Shotton, and locked two members of staff in the back room before making off with a quantity of cash.

A staff member was hit by one of the offenders but is not believed to have sustained an injury.

The incident happened at around 10.30pm on Thursday.

Detective Sergeant Kevin Bowden said: “We would like to reassure the public that North Wales Police are investigating this offence robustly and will continue to do so until the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“We are appealing to anyone who has information in connection with this incident and to any person who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything suspicious to contact Mold CID immediately.”

One offender is described as being of slim build and approximately 5ft 10 tall, the second and third are of medium build and approximately 5ft 7 tall.

All three were wearing black clothing.

One of the men was in possession of a machete which was used to threaten staff.

A Pizza Hut spokesman said: “We can confirm there was an incident at our Queensferry restaurant on Thursday night.

“There were no customers in the restaurant but there were two members of staff. Fortunately nobody was hurt. Our employees are understandably still shaken, and
have been given time off on full pay to recuperate.

“This is a serious matter and we are working with police to do what we can to help catch the culprits. The restaurant has reopened and it is business as usual.”
