A DEVOTED and loving father was found hanging in his home, an inquest has heard.

Dad-of-two Andrew Wilson, 46, of Connah’s Quay, was found hanging while his wife and children were on holiday in west Wales, but the death was not ruled as suicide.

North East Wales deputy coroner John Gittins returned a verdict of accidental death after the discovery of Mr Wilson’s body on August 18 and said the act was an accident.

During the inquest Mr Wilson’s wife Michelle said: “It was a happy and loving relationship. He was a loving and devoted father. He was a Liverpool supporter and he played football every Friday night with his friends.”

Mr Wilson was a former John Summers High School pupil and worked at the Kimberly-Clark factory in Flint.

The inquest heard that he did not leave a note and had not suffered from depression.

Mrs Wilson said her husband had loved his job and that he was unable to join them on the four-day holiday to Abersoch as he had just returned to shift work at the factory.

She said: “He returned to shift work so he could spend more time with his boys.
“We spoke on Monday and he seemed fine.”

Mr Wilson had not turned up for work on Tuesday and when his wife called his mobile phone on Wednesday it was answered by a police officer and she was asked to attend Pwllheli Police Station where she was told of her husband’s death.

PC Gareth Griffiths attended the house and found Mr Wilson’s body hanging by a belt from the loft.

Mr Gittins said Mr Wilson had no underlying medical conditions or illnesses.

He said: “Having heard the evidence and gone over this he did not seem to have stress or problems in his life.

"Suicide is not what this is. There is evidence of this being an accident. He had other reasons for doing this.”

Mr Gittins recorded a verdict of accidental death with asphyxiation from hanging as the cause of death.
