WHILE many charity shops are struggling to meet demand, a furniture recycling centre is having to give away stock to make room for new items.

New 2 You is a not-for-profit organisation, run by community volunteers five days a week at Queensway in Wrexham, next door to the sports centre.

Volunteer Daphne Roberts said: “We’ve been busy with sales since Christmas, but have found ourselves even busier taking in donated items of furniture.

“Before Christmas, we had a big TV giveaway, which was a great success, but larger items have backed up quite a bit because the snow stopped us having our ‘freebie Saturdays’ in December.

It seems that the message about offering items for reuse rather than just dumping them is spreading, as we have so much good quality furniture on offer at low prices that we’re in danger of having to turn down items.”

She added: “We’d like to invite people to pop along to New 2 You, on Wrexham’s Queensway, on Saturday mornings, between 9am and 1pm, where we shall have several dining tables, chairs and sofas, as well as smaller pieces of furniture and some bric-a-brac on offer.

“We had a major space crisis in September and Leader readers responded marvellously to our offer of free furniture, helping us make space and we’re hoping it will be the same this time.”
