PLANS have been drawn up to renovate a church and create a community-focused centre.

New Life Church in Holywell is looking to create a new facility which will offer services, support and activities to members of the congregation and residents.

Plans include a family-friendly coffee shop with a children’s play area and a flexible high-quality auditorium that could be used by performing arts groups.

Pastor Dan Morgan, who has been head of the church for more than five years, said: “We have had some initial plans drawn up. We have spoken to a lot of community groups on uses for the building. We are hoping to have final concept designs by the end of the month.

“The hope is to get something everyone can use. We want to create a place where families can come and relax and enjoy themselves and get help. It is very much focused on the whole community. It is for everyone.”

The church on Post Office Lane hosts non-church members including a youth group, parents and toddlers group, coffee mornings and a kids’ club.

Pastor Morgan said the church would now be looking to outside bodies for funding as well as community-led fundraising.

He said: “We are hoping this can be a boost for the town and that it will have a positive impact on the town centre. It is something that could draw people to the town centre.”
