A WOMAN woke up in the early hours to find her ex-husband in her bedroom.

During a confrontation, Jeremy Stokes picked up her laptop computer and hurled it against the wall, it was alleged at Wrexham Magistrates’ Court sitting at Mold.

Stokes, 32, of Heol yr Eglwys, Gwersyllt, admitted damaging a computer belonging to Laura Ann Roberts at her Ruabon home in July.

He was fined £75 with £300 compensation and a restraining order was made. He must not approach her for two years.

The court heard Miss Roberts, 29, had been separated from Stokes since February 2009 and they were divorcing. But at 4am on Saturday, July 17, she woke up, heard a noise outside, looked out and saw Stokes. Because of previous problems with him, she called the police.

Officers searched the area, but he had left, said prosecutor John Wylde. After they had gone, he returned and she woke up at about 4.40am to find him in her bedroom.

He looked in cupboards and under the bed, was repeatedly told to leave but he picked up the laptop and threw it against the wall.

Arrested, he initially denied causing the damage but admitted he had written a letter which referred to the damaged computer.

He then claimed he had damaged it while trying to get the computer off Miss Roberts.
