TWO men posing as postmen are believed to have raided a Wrexham convenience and post office last night.

Raiders gained access to the area behind the counters and stole cash from McColls' Queens Park Post Office on Holt Road, Wrexham, near the Hand pub.

A spokeswoman for Post Office Ltd said: “We can confirm an incident took place on Wednesday evening at about 5pm. Fortunately no-one was injured.

“We would ask anyone with information to contact the police.”

Residents in the area have been shocked to hear the post office about the raid.

Alan Brown, of Caia Park, said: “I was walking past earlier this evening and saw the police officers going in and out I don’t know exactly what they were doing.

“There are elderly people living around here who are frightened enough as it is without a robbery taking place right on their doorstep.

“The shop is closed for the moment, which is great shame. I hope it will re-open soon.”

A spokesman for North Wales Police confirmed that an incident took place and they are investigating.
