TRIBUTES have been paid to a 24-year-old man who was found dead near to a railway line.

Neil Ceiriog Roberts worked as a woodwork assistant with the Caia Park Partnership and has been described by workers as ‘well liked by everyone’.

Mr Roberts, of Hoel-y-Plas, Cefn Mawr, was found by the side of the railway about 500 metres from Wrexham General Station on Saturday morning.

Chair of the trustees of Caia Park Partnership, Francis Hardman, who lives at Coed-y-Bryn, Caia Park, said: “On behalf of the Caia Park Partnership we express our deepest sympathies to Mr Roberts’ family and friends.

“We’re all concerned about what has happened.

“Mr Roberts was well liked by everyone and we are all shocked to hear of his untimely death.

“It’s so sad.”

Brian Calverley who worked with Mr Roberts in the woodwork department for a short time, added his condolences.

“For the short time I knew him he was a really nice chap,” he said.

“It’s so sad to have lost him as a friend.”

The post-mortem examination, which will determine how Mr Roberts died, is expected to be revealed today.

Mr Roberts leaves behind his mum Angela, dad John, brother Aaron, 32, sister Rachel, 29 and girlfriend Julie Shaw.

British Transport Police said Mr Roberts was not hit by a train which is why the incident was being treated initially as a crime scene.

Police later said that the circumstances surrounding the death were not suspicious.

Train services from the station were stopped until 11.30am and passengers experienced disruption for much of the day.
