A PENSIONER who popped out to buy a pint of milk made an unlikely discovery that was to be the ultimate test of his goodwill.

Avid Liverpool fan Billy Foulkes, 71, from Connah’s Quay, found an Everton FC season ticket on the ground as he walked near the Boathouse Inn in Connah’s Quay on Wednesday.

The ticket is worth in the region of £400.

Billy, whose father was the late Welsh international footballer of the same name, is now appealing for its rightful owner to come forward.

He joked to the Leader: “This ticket is burning a hole in my pocket. I don’t want it in the house and I can’t stand to look at it.

“At first I thought it was a bank card so I picked it up ready to return it to the bank, but then I realised what it was and I was shocked.

“These things cost an awful lot of money so I hope I can return it to its rightful owner before the next game.”

Billy has already called Everton FC headquarters but had no luck tracing the owner of the ticket.

He said: “I wish I had a season ticket for Liverpool but I really can’t afford it and it’s such a hassle to get the train when I’m knocking on 72.

“I would much rather watch it on television.”

Billy, who also played football as a youth, said: “I have scored a few goals in my time. But people used to say ‘Oh, he’s Billy Foulkes’ son, he is bound to score goals’.”

He added: “I respect Everton and I hope they respect us.”
