SHOPPERS in Wrexham are being urged to vote for their favourite festive window display.

And they could win a hamper full of Christmas treats if they do.

Nine businesses in the town have signed up for this year’s Christmas window competition, organised by Wrexham Council as part of a series of activities and events to help boost retailers during the run-up to Christmas.

This year’s entrants are Free Spirit, Hope House Hospice shop, Broomfields, Jane Smellie Opticians, Gerrards (Lord Street and Queen Street) Bubbles and Bows, Siop y Siswrn and Susu’s.

Cllr Rodney Skelland, lead member for regeneration and corporate governance, said: “The competition proved successful last year and it’s a nice way to encourage more shoppers into Wrexham, providing a boost for local retail businesses.

“The shops that take part get into the spirit of the competition and voters enjoy checking out the different window displays before choosing their favourite.”

Voting for your favourite window display is easy.

Each business taking part will have a sticker displayed in their front window.

To cast your vote, simply use the cut-out voting coupon in today’s Leader, ask a participating shop for a voting slip, or pick one up from Wrexham Tourist Information Centre in Lambpit Street.

When you’ve filled it in, you can hand it back to the Tourist Information Centre or return it to the address on the slip – but make sure you do it by 4pm on Friday, December 17.

All votes will be entered into a prize draw, with one lucky shopper winning a hamper full of goodies.

The business with the most votes will win a meal for two at a local restaurant.
