A BRIDE-to-be who is due to marry on the same day as Prince William and Kate Middleton said she had a gut feeling she and her fiance might end up sharing their special day with the Royals.

Sarah Dutton from Bersham, and Glyn Hughes of Acton, who live together in Ruthin Road, decided in March this year to tie the knot on April 29 next year.

But as soon as the Royal engagement was announced, Sarah guessed their wedding day would be a popular choice.

She said: “I got a funny feeling they might pick the same date.

“We wanted to avoid booking the wedding during Lent and Easter and the following weekend is a Bank Holiday when people might be busy.

“Maybe William and Kate used the same logic.

“We’re really excited about it!”

Sarah says her grandmother Doreen, who died recently, was a firm Royalist who would have struggled with divided loyalties .

Sarah, a teacher at RhosymedrePrimary School said: “My grandmother Doreen was a huge fan of the Royal family and she would have wanted to go down to London on the day so I think she would have found it hard to choose.

“But I guess now she’ll be able to watch both!”

As the country speculates about the Royals’ budget at a time when most people are tightening the purse strings, William and Kate’s wedding will take place at Westminster Abbey.

It promises to be a grand affair following the tradition set by the marriages of Prince Charles and Diana in 1981 and the then Princess Elizabeth to Prince Philip in 1947.

But the wedding of Sarah and Glyn, both 27, will be a more modest affair.

The couple, who have been in a relationship for five years, are to be married at Christ Church, Rossett, before a reception at the Grosvenor Pulford Hotel.

Sarah said: “My mum’s making the cake to try to save money and we haven’t got a honeymoon booked yet.

“We’re trying to be more sensible so Glyn’s made us a spreadsheet so we can keep an eye on everything we’re spending.

“It’s just a good job I haven’t got expensive tastes!”

So what would Sarah splash out on if she had a Royal budget?

“I’d love to go to a tropical island, really deserted and peaceful.

“But I wouldn’t swap with Kate. She’s taking on a lot marrying into the Royal family and I don’t envy her!

“I wish them all the best though and hope everyone joins in with the celebrations.”
