FRIENDS who have set up their own business are giving one lucky couple the ultimate wedding gift.

Tom Williams, 24, and Mark Bowes, 27, have launched a film production company called New Age Rocketeer.

To get their venture off the ground, the Connah’s Quay pair are offering to film one couple’s nuptials for free.

Tom, a film and photography graduate from Glyndwr University, and Mark, a graphic design graduate from the University of Salford, have a wealth of experience between them and decided it was time to turn a hobby into a full-time profession.

Tom told the Leader: “The media industry is very competitive.

“I graduated from university last year and have had many job interviews but, unfortunately, no job.

“I’m not one for just sitting around so I thought this business would be a great way to use my skills and make a bit of pocket money.”

He added: “I’ve have lots of experience.

“While I was student at Yale College, I filmed a fashion show and an awards ceremony and also took part in filming for the Llangollen Food Festival .

“New Age Rocketeer will film all special events, including weddings, funerals, bar mitzvahs, parties and concerts.

“What we have already worked on went so well we were told we should do it as a profession.”

The boys set up the business a month ago after Mark completed a contract as a graphic designer in Chester.

They have already filmed a string of live events, including the last ever gig from Deeside rock band Stokoz to Moscow and a music video for up-and-coming Wrexham band No Room for Heroes.

Tom said: “Mark and I have a great relationship because I love to do the camera work and Mark really likes the editing part. We bounce ideas off each other and although we may have different opinions on what works best, we always end up with a great product at the end.”

The pair will film the ceremony free of charge but are asking guests to make a donation to Cancer Research UK in memory of Tom’s grandmother, Doreen
Proudlove, who died of breast cancer when she was 50.

Tom added: “I never knew my nan because she passed away while my mum was a teenager.

“I thought a donation to charity would be a fitting tribute to the lady I never knew.”
