TOWNS and villages came to a standstill yesterday to honour those who died serving their country.
Wreaths were laid and silences observed as tributes were paid at Remembrance Sunday services across the region.
Veterans, servicemen and women, dignitaries and people wishing to pay their respects gathered to honour those who have fought in Afghanistan, Iraq and every other conflict since the First World War.
This year also marks the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.
