A SEX offender failed to register his new address with the police within the required time limit.

Flintshire Magistrates’ Court at Mold heard it was the second time Graham Dean Jones, 26, had breached the requirements of the sex offender register.

The court was told he was three days late registering his new address.

His solicitor, Fiona Larkin, said her client went into the police station in time to change the address.

Normally he was taken into a back room by a mature male officer who filled in the appropriate form.

On this occasion a female member of staff dealt with him at the front desk in front of other people, he became embarrassed and left the station because he could not cope, she said.

Jones was a young man who found it difficult to come to terms with the position he was in, she said.

Jones, of Alyn Meadows, Mold, admitted the breach and being in breach of a community order. He was given a six-month prison sentence suspended for two years.

He was also placed on a three-month curfew under which he must remain indoors between 9pm and 7am.

Jones was warned that if he breached the order then he would go to prison immediately.

Two years ago Jones, 24, approached a woman in the street and asked her for a kiss.

He later went to a party when he refused to leave and fondled a woman’s buttocks.

Jones, then of Milwr, near Holywell, admitted a charge of common assault and a second charge of sexual assault following the two incidents in May 2008.

He was ordered to attend a community sex offender group work programme run by the probation service to try to change some of his attitudes and beliefs.

Jones was ordered to register as a sex offender for five years.
