A YOUNG footballer’s dreams will come true today when he gets to train with England superstar Frank Lampard.

Lucky Jack Jones, from Maesydre, Wrexham, has won a competition in conjunction with the Leader and the Football Association Tesco Skills Programme to meet his favourite player later today in Surrey.

Jack’s mum Kerry Burns said the ten-year-old was over the moon to win the competition as he is an avid footballer.

Jack successfully answered a question on the Leader website to clinch the prize.

She said: “We entered the competition and didn’t think anything more about it,” she said. “We don’t normally win these things.

“We had a call from Tesco Football Association to say he had won and Jack was so excited.

“I was just so made up for him – it’s a once in a lifetime experience.”

Jack, who goes to school at Ysgol Bodhyfryd, will join three other children who have also won a competition to train with the Chelsea midfielder.

They will get to meet and train with Frank and also meet Sir Trevor Brooking at the Elmbridge Xcel Leisure Centre in Surrey.

Jack, who plays for Borras Park Albion, said he was very excited to meet Frank.

“I want to learn some skills off him, he’s one of my favourite players,” he said.

Kerry, who works at Iceland in Gwersyllt, added: “He’s mad on football and he’s just shellshocked he will meet him.

“His mates don’t believe he’s going to meet him.

“He wants Frank to sign a shirt for him.”

Jack, who turns 11 next week, supports Wrexham Football Club and other teams like Chelsea and Manchester United.

The FA Tesco Skills programme is run at schools all across the country to give as many local children the chance to get active and improve their football skills, whatever their ability.

Jack will be accompanied by his mum Kerry and dad Phil.
