WREXHAM boss Dean Saunders has been trying to develop links between Wrexham and a number of French clubs.

The Reds’ boss spent a couple of days this week across the channel, holding talks with representatives of Monaco and Nice and might well have taken the first steps to a successful link up.

“I have been working hard behind the scenes,” said Saunders. “I want to try and get a link-up with a couple of French clubs.

“I was over there for a few days and spoke with people at Monaco and Nice. Something might come of it in the future.”

Saunders has made no secret of his desire to strengthen Wrexham's squad and has also been running the rule over potential targets who he could bring in on loan.

“I have been looking who is available and who to bring in, from anywhere,” he said. “We do need to strengthen the team now.

“We will come unstuck if we get a lot of injuries so that is on-going. But I might have to wait until January.”

Saunders admitted he may have to juggle his squad to bring in fresh faces and another Wrexham player has gone out on loan.

Striker Wes Baynes, who has not featured for the first team yet this season, has joined fellow Conference club Altrincham on a three month loan deal, but he won’t be allowed to feature when the clubs meet twice over the festive period.
