A HARDWORKING mum has launched a competition to raise money for charity.

Salon manager Jane Bellis is searching for Flintshire’s ‘yummiest mummy’ in a bid to raise money for Cancer Research.

Mum of four Jane juggles raising her children with running Grace Hair and Beauty in Ewloe and set up the Yummy Mummy Competition to encourage pupils from Flintshire schools to nominate their mums for a luxury makeover.

Pupils are asked to write in no more than 50 words why their mum is a deserving winner.

Each nomination will raise £1 for the charity, which is close to Jane’s heart as her gran was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1993.

Jane, 31, said: “She managed to recover and is still with us to watch her four grandchildren grow up.

“She was diagnosed in time which is why I want to do all I can to boost awareness while at the same time giving something back to hard working women across Flintshire.

“Everyone knows someone who has been touched by cancer and like so many other families we also know what a devastating blow it can be to find out someone you know and love has been diagnosed with the terrible disease.”

Jane set up her first business at the age of 21 when her first son Callum was born. She now runs the Ewloe salon, as well as another in Mickle Trafford near Chester called Bella Beauty & Holistic Therapy.

The busy mum also manages to fit in being a school governor at Sandycroft County Primary School and is on Flintshire County Council’s scrutiny committee for Lifelong Learning.

“With four little ones to look after I realise how difficult it is for women today to have some time for themselves,” said Jane.

“The prize we are offering is the perfect pampering treat. The winner from each school will receive a top to toe makeover and become the face of Grace Hair and Beauty with a professional picture to keep.

“For the winning entry we're looking for all sorts of things, but there are no restrictions on age, height, size or shape, so it’s not a traditional ‘beauty pageant’. I’m really looking for real women who work hard to juggle their family and work lives and who’s kids feel they deserve the title.”

The make over will include hair colour and restyle, nail extensions and professional make-up application.

Pupils are asked to provide a name, address, email and a current photograph of their mum.

A runner up from each school will receive a hair repair treatment and restyle. All nominees will receive a half price voucher for any service at the salon.

Entries should be sent to Grace Hair & Beauty, 1 Holywell Road, Ewloe, Deeside, Flintshire. CH5 3BS, along with a £1 coin donation which will go directly to the charity.
