A FLINTSHIRE father-of-three is officially the nation’s first ‘Mega Bloke’.

Rob Foster was shocked after winning the title and is now looking forward to a three-night getaway at a luxury B&B.

The schools cover supervisor who teaches at the University Church of England Academy in Ellesmere Port was nominated for the MEGA Bloke contest by his wife of five years Lorraine, for looking after his children, his voluntary work and helping put future soldiers on the right path.

Rob, 30, of Aston Road, Queensferry, said: “I am really made up. I did not expect to win after looking at the 10 finalists. I never thought in a month of Sundays that I would win.

“I was shocked. It is really pleasing.

“Lorraine is really happy as well. It is the little things, I bath the kids and I get them dressed in the morning. I work long hours so I don’t get to see them a lot. I like doing it. It is my special time with them. I came home yesterday and Ben was waiting for me in the window, that was really special.”

Liam 10, Emma three and two-year-old Ben will also be going on the trip with Luxury Family Hotels.  Rob said: “They have a really good kids’ club on site where they take the kids away and you get pampered.”

As well as his family life Rob is proud of his work mentoring army cadets, some of whom have gone on to join the Armed Forces and are fighting in Afghanistan.

Lorraine said: “I’m thrilled. I thought he might win as he does work really hard. It is going to be hard to argue with him now because he is a mega bloke.”

The competition was run by MEGA Bloks, which provides construction toys for infants and toddlers, and the website madeformums.com.

Pete Fuller, marketing manager at MEGA Bloks said: “It was a very hard job trying to choose a top ten let alone one to crown our Mega Bloke.

“We chose Rob for his sheer determination to provide the best for his family and commitment to helping others. His ability to manage his job, his training, his voluntary work but also remain a brilliant hands-on dad to three young kids is extremely admirable.

“It is important to have guys like Rob to motivate kids to become the best they can be.”

Rob also won a bundle of MEGA Bloks pre-school goodies, a celebratory bottle of champagne and a MEGA Bloke of the Year certificate.
