SCORES of people turned up to see members of the Cadet Forces march proudly through the streets of Wrexham.

The march, which was held on Sunday, was part of celebrations to mark the organisation’s 150th anniversary.

The march began from Yale College on Rhosddu Road and went along Queen’s Square, Queen Street, Hope Street, High Street, Chester Street and Lambpit Street, before heading back to Queen’s Square.

The mayor, Cllr Jim Kelly, took the official salute on Queen’s Square along with the cadets’ honorary colonel Nick Beard and Colonel Mike Mullis. The Cadet Forces are made up of the Combined Cadet Force, the Sea Cadet Corps, the Army Cadet
Force and the Air Training Corps. Cadets are sponsored and supported by the Ministry of Defence.

They are voluntary organisations that aim to provide challenging and enjoyable activities for young people living in the UK and certain locations abroad.

Cadets have the opportunity to learn new skills and engage in adventurous activities in disciplined and well structured organisations.They can also work towards a range of qualifications based on their achievements.

Some of these qualifications equate to four GCSEs at A*-C level and can help with future education and careers.
