THE former chief executive of Wrexham Football Club has been charged with theft and fraud offences.
Paul Retout has been accused of four counts of theft and one count of fraud relating to abuse of a position of trust.
Mr Retout, 47, will appear before Tower Bridge Magistrates Court in London next Thursday facing five charges.
Mr Retout arrived at The Racecourse in July, 2008 and stepped down from his role as chief executive of Wrexham Football Club in May.
A spokesman for the CPS in London said: “The Crown Prosecution Service in London has today authorised for Paul Retout to be charged with four counts of theft contrary to Section 1(1) of the Theft Act 1968 and one count of fraud relating to abusing a position of trust.
“He will appear at Tower Bridge Magistrates Court on Thursday, October 14, for a first appearance.”
The Metropolitan Police confirmed that Mr Retout’s address was on their records as Ruthin.
In June the Metropolitan Police confirmed officers from Southwark CID in London were investigating an allegation of fraud which had been reported in September, 2009.
