A YOUNG man has admitted possessing extreme images on his laptop.

Nicholas Frank James Price, 20, had eight photographs which were classed as grossly offensive, disgusting or otherwise of an obscene character.

He told police he did not realise having such images was illegal.

Price, formerly of Station Road, Queensferry, but now living in Whetstone Lane, Birkenhead, pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornographic images.

Sentence was adjourned when he appeared at Flintshire Magistrates’ Court yesterday and he was bailed.

Prosecutor Elizabeth Bell said on February 17 police executed a search warrant at Price’s then home address and three laptops were seized. Forensic examination of one of them revealed the images highlighted in the charges.

When Price, who had no previous convictions, was interviewed he accepted responsibility for having them and said he had downloaded them but he did not appreciate that possessing them was a criminal offence.

Miss Bell applied for the laptop to be destroyed.

Huw Roberts, defending, said there were eight images and no more.

District Judge Andrew Shaw said he was prepared to place Price on a community order, subject to a report from the probation service.
