A CHARITY is being set up as a lasting tribute to popular teenager Amy Wright who died earlier this month aged just 19.

Family and friends say it will be a special way of continuing the work which Amy, a passionate supporter of good causes, carried out.

The main organisers of the Amy Wright Foundation will be her twin sister Carys and friends Phill Groom and Timmy Jones.

Phill, of Primrose Way, Wrexham, said: “Amy was the very epitome of good. She was such a caring and compassionate person. We want to carry on the fundraising which she used to get so involved with.”

The foundation will be raising money for three charities – Macmillan Cancer Support, Nightingale House Hospice and Welsh Warrior – which helps armed forces personnel from Wales.

“Amy could bring a smile to anyone’s face. Family members are still coming to terms with her passing, they were very close,” said Phill, who used to work with Amy at Tenpin Bowling in Eagles Meadow and also at Liquid nightclub.

“There was never a dull moment with Amy around. She was the life and soul of any party. There were so many friends at the funeral service in Pentre Bychan. It was packed inside with lots of people outside.”

Phill said fundraising has already begun for the foundation which so far has collected about £1,500 which will be split equally between the three charities.

There are a whole host of events being planned in the coming months including a fancy dress wheelbarrow walk, auction, bingo and quiz night.

In late December a fun motoring fundraiser dubbed the Scum Ball Rally is being held involving driving from Wrexham to London and back in a small car raising cash along the way.
