TRIBUTES have been paid to a motorcyclist who was killed in a road crash.

Russell James Green died at the scene of the accident on the A550 at Tinkersdale, Hawarden, shortly after 2pm on Sunday.

The 45-year-old businessman from Leighton Road, Neston, Wirral, leaves behind his wife Jane, four children Jayne, Sophie, Charlotte, Thomas, step daughter Daisy, mother Joan, brother Richard and sister Christine.

Jane said: "He was tragically killed doing what he loved. Russ was adored by his family and friends.”

Two other people were taken to the Maelor Hospital in Wrexham by ambulance suffering from shock and minor injuries following the collision which involved a motorbike and two cars.

The road was cordoned off at both ends and police forensic experts could be seen working on the roadside.

A convoy of vehicles were present including council highway vans, police cars and a transporter pick up lorry – together with a damaged Vauxhall, Rover and Triumph motorbike.

An appeal has been made for witnesses to come forward.

Hawarden community councillor Cheryl Carver said the thoughts of the community were with Mr Green’s family.

She said: “All we can do is send our sympathies to the family and to all who were involved.

“We are very upset for the family. It is very sad. It has shocked the community with it being such a small village.

“A lot of motorcyclists come from the Wirral and use that road and go up to Llandegla Moors and then up to the Horseshoe Pass.”
