A MAN has pleaded guilty to the double murder of an 11-year-old boy and his mother.

Krystian Rozek, 27, formerly of Cae Hir, Flint, admitted the stabbings of Monica and Patryk Wasco, of Flint, when he appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court yesterday.

He denied attempting to murder the father, Rafal Wasko, and this was accepted by the court.

Sentencing was adjourned until a later date.

Simon Mills, prosecuting, said during the 11-minute hearing that Rafael Wasko, 33, who had relatively light injuries, had gone back home to Poland and did not intend returning to Britain unless absolutely necessary.

Details of the stabbing tragedy at the house in Cae Hir on July 11 were not given in court.

Monika Wasko, 29, a council cleaner, died at the scene and her son Patryk lost his fight for life four days later in Alder Hey children’s hospital, Liverpool.

Bearded Rozek had been living with the family while he was working at Flint.

The murders had shaken the town and particularly the Roman Catholic church which the family attended and Patryk’s school St Mary's RC Primary School where he was described as a caring boy who always had a smile.

With a woman interpreter at his side in the dock, Rozek nodded and made his pleas when she translated the charges into Polish.

Judge Merfyn Hughes QC told him: ”Within the next few days you will be informed of the date upon which you will be sentenced.

“You understand of course that the only sentence which the court can impose upon you is life imprisonment.”

The judge informed Jeffrey Samuels QC, defending, that he had read a psychiatric report.

The QC agreed that a pre-sentence report by the probation service “would add
nothing”.
