TWO man have admitted taking part in an armed robbery on a Wrexham area post office.

Nathan John White and Carl Anthony Davies pleaded guilty yesterday to robbing Cefn Mawr Post Office on July 15.

White, 26, of Stockwell Grove and Davies, 28, of Poyser Street, both of Wrexham, appeared in the dock at Mold Crown Court and admitted they robbed sub-postmaster David Taylor of £54,000 during the armed raid. Both also pleaded guilty to possessing a firearm, or imitation firearm, with intent to commit the robbery.

Judge Niclas Parry remanded them both in custody pending sentence.

The case against a third man charged with robbery was adjourned for a plea and case management hearing in November.

Jimmy Pritchard, 24, Conway Drive, Wrexham, was arrested later and he was not asked to enter a plea yesterday because not all the prosecution papers had been served on his barrister.

A fourth defendant, Claire Rebecca Prince, 28, of Lawson Road, Wrexham, was cleared of a charge of assisting an offender.

The charge against her alleged that she, knowing White had committed the robbery, had bought him a mobile phone, lied to investigating officers about his whereabouts and took him to an address to impede his arrest.

However, prosecutor Karl Scholtz said he would offer no evidence against her and the judge recorded a formal not guilty verdict.

The court heard another woman was being prosecuted in a magistrates’ court for handling £1,000 taken in the robbery.

Police were also investigating another man, alleged to have been paid to check that there was no one in the post office at the time of the robbery.
