A SCHOOLGIRL has donated her golden locks to make wigs for children who have lost their hair after falling victim to cancer.

And now she is looking for a child from the region to donate her sponsorship money to.

Ashleigh Roberts, eight, had hair so long she could sit on it.

But now the Holywell girl has had it chopped to just above her shoulders to make a wig and raise money for charity.

Her mum, Sharon Roberts, told the Leader: “I’ve been trying to get her to get her hair cut for ages but she didn’t want to.

“Then a friend suggested she get it cut for charity so Ashleigh said she’d do that.

“She’s had about 14 inches cut off.”

Ashleigh has donated her hair to the Little Princess Trust, a charity providing real hair wigs for children who have lost their hair due to cancer.

The Trust provides a fitting and styling service to ensure the wig is as close as possible to the child’s original hair.

As well as giving her hair to the charity, the innovative schoolgirl asked people to sponsor her. So far she has raised more than £200.

“She is looking for a local child with an illness that she could donate the money to for them to have a treat or go on a day out,” said Sharon.
