A SCHOOL friend of a mother-of-two with terminal cancer is continuing the fundraising effort.

Vikki Purslow, from Wrexham, was diagnosed with cancer throughout her body in May and was told she only has months to live.

Since then she has been heavily involved in raising money for charity and thousands of pounds have gone to worthy causes.

Now her school friend Richard Lunt is organising a fancy dress party in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Richard said: “It has been Vikki’s aim to raise as much money as possible for the three charities that have helped her and her family.

“Vikki and I organised a sponsored walk up Snowdon in July for The Willow Foundation and Nightingale House Hospice where we raised in excess of £30,000.

“Vikki organised a fun day in Coedpoeth in August for The Nightingale House and Macmillan Cancer Support where more than £3,000 was raised.

“I have now organised this party to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support and for everyone who has been involved in the fundraising efforts over the past couple of months to let off some steam.”

The event is being held on Friday, September 24 at The Club House on Oak Road, Wrexham Industrial Estate, from 7.30pm to 1am.

There is no specific theme to the party and entry is £20 which includes a drink on arrival, a hog roast and entry into a raffle.

Speaking to the Leader previously Vikki said she wanted to spend as much time as possible with her family.

She said: “I look at life completely differently now and I feel more at peace. You spend your life worrying about everything and it seems insignificant.”
