RESIDENTS claim a collision between a bus and parked car was an ‘accident waiting to happen’.

The Arriva bus route number 13 was travelling along Box Lane, Acton, Wrexham yesterday morning when it collided with a parked car.

Residents are opposed to having the bus route along the street because it has been causing congestion, particularly around the school run time.

Community councillor Gwilym Roberts said: “It is causing chaos because there simply isn’t enough room on the road for the bus to get through.

“Cars are often parked on either side and we just knew that an accident like this would happen.”

Last month the Leader reported concerns about the same bus route through Garden Village.

Resident Sharon Griffiths claimed that buses had to mount the pavements to get through narrow residential streets.

Cllr Roberts added: “I knew this was going to happen, I’m just thankful it wasn’t a child that was run over.

“Words fail me why they would bring a bus down here.”

Resident Amanda Wood said: “They need to replan the route because, obviously, it’s not working during school hours.”

Another resident, who didn’t want to be named, added: “It’s just too narrow and it’s ridiculous they come down here.”

A spokesman for Arriva said: “I can confirm that an incident took place (on Thursday morning) in which an Arriva bus made contact with another vehicle on Box Lane, Acton. There is a full investigation taking place and we are currently assisting all relevant authorities.

“We are in discussions with residents relating to some early morning journeys on the 13 service, although there are no plans to make wholesale changes to the route.”
