A FUN day organised by a mum with terminal cancer could become an annual event.

Vikki Purslow, 27, of Coedpoeth, was diagnosed with cancer in the liver, neck, chest and digestive system at the beginning of May and only has months to live.

The determined mother-of-two has since helped to organise two charity events including the fun day and a charity walk up Snowdon which raised about £30,000.

On Sunday children and adults enjoyed activities in the village including a teddy bear trail, a barbecue and bouncy castle as well as football, raffles and a car boot sale.

Vikki, who married partner Matthew in May, said: “The fun day was a huge success.

“We raised a lot more than we expected to and the atmosphere was fantastic.

“Everybody seemed to enjoy themselves and we have had lots of positive feedback from the people who attended.”

Vikki said many people deserved praise for helping stage the event, including staff at Plas Pentwyn and workers at the Red Lion pub.

She also thanked workers at Colour Supplies, Lloyd’s Supplies and Bits‘n’Bobs, Kevin Williams, headteacher at Ysgol Bryn Tabor, and all local people and businesses who donated prizes for raffles.

Vikki said: “All in all the day was a huge success and it was lovely to see the community come together and enjoy themselves.

“I would love for this to become an annual event.”
