Denbigh are on the verge of sealing promotion to the Premier Division following their 59 run success over Llandudno 2nds.

After being inserted into bat, Denbigh did not have things all their own way as Llandudno used the conditions to great effect, only overseas pro William Affleck (38) and Ben Wilcox-Jones (24) made any significant contribution as they hosts limped to 124 all out.

Conditions failed to improve as Llandudno went out to bat after the interval and Denbigh used them to even greater effect, Gerallt Lyall (5-29), Alec Lewis (2-7) and Affleck (3-15) removing the visitors for 65.

Halkyn all but ended Gresford’s promotion hopes as they completed a 35 run home success.

Decent contributions by Simon Penney (14) and Mike Briscoe (17 not out) were added to by Matthew Williams (42) and Duane Williams (33) as Halkyn totalled 143-5 from 52 overs.

Maelor Thomas (3-32) and John Gaskell (3-23) then helped reduce Gresford to 69-8 and despite some resiliant batting by Sean Richards (33), the away side fell to 108 all out.

Marchwiel and Wrexham boosted their relegation survival hopes and added a nail to the coffin of opponents Rhewl following their four wicket win.

Rhewl posted a decent 167-8 after being asked to bat first, Jon Eccles (62) and David Bell (43) the chief run scorers as Anthony Morris and Tommy Bellis shared six wickets.

A good opening stand of 42 from the Marchwiel openers set the hosts innings off on the right footing, Owen Ward (66) continuing to score runs after his partner Michael Forgrave (28) was dismissed.

Morris then took over to see his side home with an unbeaten 19.

Northop fell 17 runs short of victory as they settled for a losing draw at Pwllheli, a result that did neither side any favours in their promotion bid.

Mark Poynton (4-43) was the stand out bowler for Northop after captain Chris Brookes won the toss, Pwllheli deciding to declare with their total on 206-9.

The majority of the Northop batsmen made double figure contributions, but the chief run scorers were skipper Brookes (44) and Rickard Walker (31) as the visitors came up just short on 189-8.

Llay Welfare also suffered a set-back as they lost at fellow promotion chasers Conwy by 41 runs.

Daniel Parry bagged a five wicket haul as Conwy posted 218-7, but that total proved too big as they lost their last five wickets for just four runs.

Richard Beale (59) and John Lloyd (30) were looking good value for Llay before they were dismissed.

Pontblyddyn 2nds failed to lend a hand to local outfit Northop 2nds as they defeated the relegation battlers by 43 runs.

Paul Cartwright (3-31) left Pontblyddyn struggling, but some good lower order contributions from Rhys Jones (28) and Tony Manoj (19) led the visitors to 137.

In reply, Northop fell to 24-4 before 40 from Phil Evans rebuilt the innings, but Jack Mason (4-27) and Nigel Neath (2-26) bowled the hosts out for 94.

Brymbo 2nds were unable to record the win they needed to help their relegation battle, recording a highly entertaining draw at Abergele.

Jamie Smith (32) and Kris Salisbury (24) top scored for Brymbo as they totalled 130, and defeat looked on the cards as Abergele opener David Moulson (59) found runs easy to come by.

Once he had gone however, wickets fell regularly with Smith (3-14) and Salisbury (3-42) the pick as Abergele were saw their last man fall with one run needed and three balls to spare.

Gwersyllt Park suffered a setback in their promotion chase as they fell to a 74 run loss at home to Bangor 2nds.

The visitors were able to post 186-6 having been asked to bat first. Park’s reply started brightly with Darren Jones (51) leading the way, but once he departed the home side slumped to 112 all out.

Carmel and District were unable to capitalise on Park’s slip as they went down by 19 runs at Menai Bridge 2nds.

Michael Harrison (2-20) and Steve ‘Scooter’ Jones (2-35) were the pick of the Carmel attack as Bridge scored 153-7 having won the toss and deciding to bat.

Despite 46 from Gareth Hughes, Carmel fell short of the winning line, Bridge bowling them out for 134.

Mynydd Isa rubber stamped Llanrwst’s relegation from Division Three with a 77 run win over the hosts.

Ian Dixon (57no) led the run scoring for Isa as they totalled 146 all out inside 42 overs, John Cooper (29) also chipping in with important runs.

Cooper (2-25) and Dixon (1-13) then removed the Llan top three before Nail Amos (5-10) and Danny Sprake (2-18) wrapped up the hosts innings on 69.

Mold 2nds maintained the pressure on Isa as they clinched an 82 run home success over Denbigh 2nds.

Rob Moore (80) and Adrian Forster (62) were able to lead Mold to 203-7 despite Jack Griffiths’s 4-13, and it proved more than enough as Keith Embleton (4-36) and John Crane (3-16) removed Denbigh for 121-9.

Buckley held their nerve to see off hosts Llay Welfare 2nds by six runs.

Rob Walker’s 5-33 left Buckley faltering, but some good lower order hitting from Ryan White (21) and Chris Maguire (17no) saw them post 139-9.

Richard Bostock’s unbeaten 71 looked set to hand Llay victory, but White bagged his own five wicket haul to leave Bostock stranded at the other end.

Hawarden Park 2nds poor run of form continued as they were beaten by nine-man Marchwiel and Wrexham 2nds.

Mike Rapson (2-12), Mike Salisbury (2-16) and Rana Dey (1-10) bowled tightly to restrict Marchwiel to 107, although the 24 extras they conceded would come back to haunt them.

Only Rapson (38) made more than 10 with the bat during Park’s reply, the promotion hopefuls slipping to 106 all out inside 28 overs.

Llyr Williams thoroughly enjoyed his afternoon as he pocketed 7-12 from 10 overs, although Ruthin (105) fell to a home defeat against relegation threatened Bala (111).

Shotton can breathe a little easier at the bottom end of the division as they defeated fellow strugglers Castell Alun by nine wickets.

Simon Harris (4-19) and Douglas Cavendish (2-30) enabled Shotton to restrict Castell Alun to 97-9 from their allotted 45 overs.

Marcello Carrino led the scoring with 44 before his son Antonio (23no) and Martin Hinton (24no) finished the job for the visitors.

Connah’s Quay 2nds secured their Division Four promotion despite not playing a fixture this weekend.

The fact that Mochdre 2nds couldn’t get more than six points at second placed Bodedern made sure that Quay were at least guaranteed second spot.

At the other end of the table, Corus Colors failed to ease their relegation fears as they suffered a shock six wicket defeat at basement side Bersham 2nds.

Only Simon McCormick (19) reached double figures as Corus were skittled for 56, and although he added 2-9 and Tony Bailey bagged 2-5, Bersham clinched the win.

Gresford 2nds slim promotion hopes remain alive as they beat Conwy 2nds by 27 runs.

Gareth Bell (36) and David Baker (28no) led the way as Gresford posted 151-9. Bell followed his run scoring with 3-27, while Cameron Murdoch (3-31), Jack Bunkell (2-24) and Nicky Clare (2-25) wrapped up the Conwy reply for just 124.

Buckley 2nds moved to within 14 points of second placed Llangollen following a nine wicket Division Five success.

Alyn Evans and Adam Shaw shared eight of the Llangollen wickets to remove them for 93, before Adam Cliffe (41no) and Shaw (15no) saw them home inside 17 overs.

Credit must go to Halkyn 2nds who travelled to Chirk 2nds with just seven-men. The visitors could only manage 34, but their spirit was evident as they were prepared to play the game.

Chirk strolled to 35-0 inside eight overs.

Corus Maeshafn saw their Division Six promotion hopes fade as they lost to leaders Llangollen by six wickets.

Peter Gresty (37) and Stuart Applewhite (18) were the stand out performers with the bat for Corus as they were removed for 100.

After the turnaround Mansoor Hussain bagged 3-11, but Llangollen got over the line.

Elsewhere, Corwen 2nds (95) overcame Rhewl 2nds (45), Alyn Evans brilliant 6-7 went to waste as Shotton 2nds (99) lost to to Bodedern 2nds (107) and Ruthin 2nds (129) defeated Anglesey 2nds (84) thanks to an unbeaten 73 from Hugh Sharples and four wickets by Darrell Jones.
