THERE was once more academic improvement and success at St David’s High School.

The Saltney school followed up an impressive set of A-level results last week by scoring well in the GCSE results released today (Tuesday), as 75per cent of students achieved the Welsh level two threshold of five passes at grades A* to C.

Almost two-thirds obtained A*s to Cs in the core subjects of English, Mathematics and Science.

Headteacher Tony Davidson said: “For the fifth consecutive year, we have beaten our previous best at GCSE and exceeded the challenging targets agreed with the local authority.

“These results really are excellent and I am delighted.Students of all abilities have approached their GCSE examinations with considerable energy and determination, and teaching staff have provided excellent support and guidance.

“The results achieved reflect the hard work and dedication which we have seen over the past five years. I congratulate everyone concerned and I am pleased that so many year 11 students will be joining our sixth form.”

Outstanding performers this year included Sam Carr, who scored four A*s, four As
and a B, with Keziah McKenna achieving three A*s, five As and two Bs.

Emily Russell achieved three A*s, six As and a B, while the results of Conal Bembridge Sayers contained 2 A*s, four As and three Bs.

Rachel Lalek scored two A*s, seven A grades and a B, with Amy Reid earning two A*s, five A grades and three Bs.

Emily Scott registered two A* grades, six As and a B, with Amy Chambers gaining four A grades and six Bs.

Tom Edwards obtained six A grades and four Bs, as Tom Keogh also had a positive set of results with five A grades and as many Bs.
