A TEENAGER bit his mum’s ear and elbow and pushed her against a wall during a row, a court was told.

The 17-year-old youth came home drunk from a night out and was injured after being headbutted, a youth court at Wrexham Magistrates' Court heard.

Alun Humphreys, prosecuting, said: “He was shouting at his mother that she didn’t care about him. She was pushed up against the wall on the landing.

“He bit her on the left ear which caused her significant pain. It was only when she was released that she realised he hadn’t bitten a chunk out of her ear.”

The court was told the teenager's mother left to go to a neighbour’s house but her son came to look for her.

Mr Humphreys said: “He was trying to bite her elbow and threw a Nintendo DS so that it broke in half.”

His mother hid behind some bins and he left.

The youth, from the Johnstown area, was arrested by police soon after and during interview admitted he had pushed his mother against a wall and bitten her ear.

He said he felt terrible about calling her names and admitted a charge of assault by beating on August 1.

Tony Newnes, defending, said the defendant believed his mother was an alcoholic – something which had caused a lot of trouble for him and his brother.

He added: “This incident was the straw that broke the camel’s back.”

Magistrates adjourned the case for sentence on September 7.
