A TRAGIC schoolboy and his mother have been finally laid to rest after a massive community effort to fly them home to Poland.

Monika Wasko, 29, of Cae Hir, Flint, was found dead at the family home in the early hours of July 11.

Her son Patryk, 11, died four days later at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital in Liverpool. Both had been stabbed.

A memorial fund set up by friends who raised thousands of pounds to pay for a burial in their home country.

Monika’s husband Rafal, 33, and the couple’s second son Adrian, six, have now flown home to rebuild their lives.

The family’s priest Father Adrian Wilcock said the father and son have been receiving counselling to overcome the trama.

He told the Leader: “They are having all the necessary help and support in Poland from the church and from the professionals which is so important.

“I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who supported the family with cards and gifts and donations.

“The support has been overwhelming and is really appreciated by the Wasko family.”

Daily tributes continue to pour in to groups created on the social networking site Facebook.

One person wrote: “Not a day goes by since this terrible thing happend that my son has not been affected by this. We are pleased to know that they are together. You will never be forgotten.”

Another wrote: “Patryk, you and your mum were two of the kindest people I know.
Your little bro and your dad have gone back to Poland now and they are safe.”

Mrs Wasko was a cleaner at the council offices in Flint while Patryk was a year six pupil at St Mary’s RC Primary School in Flint.

An inquest for the pair has been opened and adjourned.

- Krystian Rozek, 27, has been charged with the murders of Monica and Patryk Wasko and the attempted murder of Mrs Wasko’s husband, Rafal, 33.

Rozek appeared at a preliminary hearing last month and was remanded in custody until September 9 by a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court.
